Pregnant women from all cultures are increasingly vulnerable to domestic violence

A recent study has found that 4.3% of women due to give birth in Western Sydney disclosed domestic violence when asked by a midwife.

The ten year study found that pregnant women from all cultural backgrounds are at increased risk of domestic violence, with higher rates among women having a second child.

Co-author, Professor Hannah Dahlen from the school of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Western Sydney believes a strong model of continuity of care needs to be implemented in hospitals to effectively address the issue.
