Pretty Red Dress

A new film offers a playful look into the complex connections of desire in a relationship drama that focuses upon gender definitions and the difficulty of living in your own skin. Leaping between musical and kitchen-sink drama, the film explores the life of Travis (recently released from prison) and Candace, an aspiring singer who is auditioning for the role of Tina Turner in a West End musical. Things suddenly take a turn in Travis and Candice’s relationship when the purchase of an expensive red dress change their lives in surprising and startling ways. Stephen Hill talked to the director of “Pretty Red Dress” Dionne Edwards.
