Raise the Rate Survey 2024: Australian income support payments still failing to prevent poverty

The Australian Council of Social Service recently released their 2024 Raise the Rate Survey, revealing the majority of Australians on Jobseeker, Youth Allowance and related income support are barely able to keep up with basic financial demands.

With many having to cut back on electricity use, and some having to choose between healthcare and the cost of groceries, Australians receiving income support payments report feeling “isolated, embarrassed, sick and dejected.”
