Randwick Council to Crack Down on ‘Land Banking’

Randwick City Council Mayor Philipa Veitch has proposed an ’empty homes levy’ on unoccupied land used for land banking. The move is aimed to get renters into houses and eliminate some of the 24 000 unoccupied homes across Sydney.

CEO of the Tenants Union of NSW, Leo Patterson Ross, explains how much land banking affects the housing crisis, and what can be done to alleviate it.
