Why are ransomware attacks on the rise?

After this week’s ransomware attack Petya, which affected several Australian businesses, and another attack earlier in the year known as WannaCry, there has been a rising concern for cyber safety.

Nic spoke to Australian security expert and head of strategy at Symantec, Nick Savvides about what ransomware actually is and what these sort of attacks mean for our cyber security. This organised criminal activity online has been an ongoing issue, and Nick discussed how we can be more aware of protecting our cyber footprint.
