Regent Honeyeater Loses Natural Birdsong

Climate change is wreaking havoc on our birds and now it’s affecting one critically endangered South Australian species in a surprising way – it’s losing its voice. The story of the regent honeyeater is a unique one in the animal world. Once seen in flocks of a hundred, the species has been broken down into small groups with as little as 25% of their habitat remaining. 

2SER Breakfast’s Alex James spoke with Dr Ross Crates, Postdoctoral Fellow and Member of the Difficult Bird Research Group at ANU, to learn more.
