The Rise of Protest Politics in Australia

Australia has a (somewhat) proud history of the donkey vote as a way of saying ‘stuff you’ to our politicians. But a new form of protest vote, emerging in the past few years, has major parties worried.

In larger and larger numbers, voters are drifting away from the centre and placing their support in outsider parties like One Nation and Cory Bernardi’s new Conservative party.
