Film has a rich history in Scandinavia from the silent films of Carl Dreyer, the emotionally psychological dramas of Ingmar Bergmann, the deadpan humour of Aki Kaurismaki to a new generation of film-makers such as Ruben Ostlund, Joachim Trier and Hlynur Palmason.
