Scientists urge government to include GIST treatments in PBS

GIST is short for gastro-intestinal stromal tumours in the digestive track, and it’s a very rare type of cancer, and this week was World GIST Day, raising awareness of the condition.

Australian scientists are leading a clinical trial to give more years of therapy to those who have the condition.

However, scientists urge the Federal government consider these treatments to be under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme so Australians can have access.
