Self service checkouts have popped up in supermarkets and stores all around the country. As with all new technology, their rapid introduction led to fears that machines would replace the role of workers. But have  machines actually been more efficient and less expensive than workers? The Daily was joined by Gary Mortimer, an associate professor at Queensland university of technology on the line to discuss.
