Shayda: a Love Letter to Mothers and Daughters

Noora Niasari is an Australian-Iranian film director. Her latest film, Shayda, is set to hit Australian cinemas on 5th October. Shayda follows the lives of Niasari and her mother, as they move from Iran to Australia, the shortcomings they face, and the resilience of their young family. It is a real story of hope in the face of despair and will offer something to any viewer. Shayda had its world premiere at Sundance this year, where it won the World Audience Award. It’s also the Australian submission for ‘Best International Feature Film’ at the 2024 Academy Awards. Noora spoke with Tuesday Drive ahead of Shayda‘s 5th October premiere.
