Shoes in Fairy Tales

There are a lot of iconic objects to be found in fairy tales – Rapunzel’s hair that can stretch down the side of a tower, or the woodsman’s ax that dispatched the Big Bad Wolf.

But when it comes to what looms large in fairy tales, it’s often something that steps lightly beneath our notice – shoes. That’s right, shoes take center stage in many of our favorite fairy tales.

Rebecca-Anne Do Rozario, an adjunct research fellow at Monash University and expert in fictional footwear spoke with Sam Baran about shoes, shoes and more shoes.
