Should the Federal Government Pick Winners and Losers in Education?

Yesterday Education Minister Simon Birmingham put forth a plan to encourage students to enter Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, more commonly known as STEM fields. Under the proposed plan, high schools around the nation would have to employ science and maths teachers who have studied those subjects at a university level. He also advocated for incentives to be applied. Speaking to us about this today is Blaise Joseph, a education policy analyst at the Centre for Independent Studies.
