Stop Google Tracking Your Location

Are you still being followed, even with your location history off? Phones with location tracking enabled, can store and record your every move. However there is always that option to tune out, but it turns out Google can and will still store your details due to a ‘default setting’. How significant is this a breach into our privacy?
