Student Media Association forms in an Australian first

Student journalists have unionised for the first time in Australia under the umbrella of the Student Media Association. 

Student media is a crucial yet overlooked part of Australia’s journalistic ecosystem, providing a cradle for aspiring journalists and holding a magnifying glass against institutions that otherwise fly under the radar of mainstream media. But it is not without its challenges.

Monday Daily’s William Prott spoke with SMA President Imogen Sabey about how the new organisation has been formed to meet these challenges.
