Study Finds Two-Thirds of GBTIQ Men Have Been in an Abusive or Unhealthy Relationship

Over the last few years, there has been increasing awareness of domestic violence in Australia. But until now, there has been little research about the existence of abuse between men in same-sex relationships. A new study from ACON and Western Sydney University has recently found that two-thirds of GBTIQ (gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer) men have been in an abusive or unhealthy same-sex relationship.

In this interview, we talk to Associate Director of LGBTIQ Health Programming and Development at ACON, Kai Noonan, about why there is such a high prevalence and how other gay men can intervene.
