Navi Pillay recieves Sydney Peace Prize

The inaugural Sydney Peace Prize was awarded to international jurist Navi Pillay on 6 November by the Sydney Peace Foundation.

The Sydney Peace Foundation has, in their words, been advocating for “peace with justice” for the past 27 years. Every year, the organisation awards the Sydney Peace Prize to an individual who has significantly furthered this lofty goal.

International jurist Navi Pillay was awarded the prize following her lifelong advocacy for human rights, peace with justice and women’s rights throughout the world, including in South Africa, Sri Lanka, Rwanda, Myanmar and Palestine.

Monday Daily’s William Prott spoke with the Foundation’s Executive Director Melanie Morrison about the prize, its recipient, and what else is coming up at the Sydney Peace Foundation.
