The ATAR: What Is It Good For?

Study hard for a good ATAR, otherwise you won’t make it to uni. A mantra that was drilled into our brains at school. We can all remember the pressure of getting a good ATAR, or equivalent final grade in year 12. A lot of us have begun to question the use of the ATAR however as an admission system as many deem it useless. How do we compare internationally with admission systems? Do we need to change it? On the show Claire Brown Associate Director at The Victoria Institute joined us to talk us through these questions.
