The Pink Tax: Paying More Just for Being a Woman

You may be familiar with the concept of the Gender Pay Gap, but have you heard of the Gender Price Gap? Also known as the ‘Pink Tax’, the Gender Price Gap is evident within the higher pricing of products that are marketed towards females, when compared with identical products catered to males. Gender-based pricing allows businesses to profit from women paying for female gender stereotypes. Dr Lauren Rosewarne, senior lecturer in the School of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Melbourne, joined us on the line to discuss the issues surrounding the Pink Tax.
