Shovelling through the strata of time to discover on today’s date, Emperor Valentinian III began his reign over the Western Roman Empire, just in time to watch it almost totally collapse. Charles Guiteau shot and fatally wounded President James Garfield while he waited for a train, and Amelia Earhart and navigator Fred Noonan were heard from for the very last time while flying over the Pacific Ocean. And celebrating birthdays for Matthew Reilly, Sammy J, Margot Robbie, Mark Hart and Jenni Rivera!
