The US 7th Cavalry under Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer were smashed by Sioux and Cheyenne warriors in Custer’s Last Stand, and The Diary of a Young Girl, better known as The Diary of Anne Frank, was published for the first time. Plus we celebrate birthdays for George Orwell, Sonia Sotomayor, Carly Simon, George Michael and more!
