This Day in History, November 19th

Hearkening back to the time of the ancestors, on today’s date in 636 the Rashidun Caliphate defeated the Sasanian Empire at the Battle of al-Qādisiyyah, although the circumstances behind the death of the Sasasnian army’s leader are hotly debated. The cruiser HMAS Sydney was involved in a mutually destructive battle with the German ship Kormoran off Western Australia, with all 645 aboard Sydney dying in the largest loss of life in the history of the Royal Australian Navy, and the US House of Reps began impeachment hearings against Bill Clinton. Plus we celebrate birthdays for Calvin Klein, Meg Ryan, Crystal Waters, and Pete Moore of The Miracles!
