Transgender representations in the media

Perceptions of trans people have long been shaped by media representations that have had no input from the people they are depicting. These have often served to reinforce prejudicial assumptions and beliefs about trans individuals. While the conversation about being trans has advanced in recent years, actual representation remains limited and trans voices are still being dismissed in public forums.
