Unions Want Food-based rideshare couriers paid as employees

Recent technological advancements have meant that our lives are simpler than ever. We can catch easy-to-access public transport, have access to last-minute carpooling and can order whatever we want straight to our door. Food delivery workers associated with apps like Uber Eats and Deliveroo now want to make a career out of this, but they are only considered separate contractors and not employees, who are entitled to extra benefits such as a minimum wage, sick leave and holiday pay.

Tony Sheldon, the National Secretary for the Transport Workers Union joined reporter Kevin Suarez to discuss their push to have app-based food delivery workers paid as employees rather than as contractors.
