Waratah Coal Project should not go ahead: advocates

Youth Verdict, along with The Bimblebox Alliance, have launched the first challenge across Australia against a coal mine based on human rights grounds, expecting the lease and approval from the Waratah Coal Project, proposed by Clive Palmer, be rejected. The Queensland Land Court from today onwards will start analysing the evidence of a potential environmental disaster should the mine go ahead.

The organisations believe the new mining project will contribute to climate change, and it will be a cultural genocide for First Nations people in the area.
