Television: The Last of Us (Season 2)
If you haven’t watched this series, this is your sign to! The Last of Us (2023) is adapted from the exceptionally popular video game of the same name. This post-apocalyptic thriller is set in the United States overrun by fungal-infected zombies. Joel and Ellie find themselves in Jackson, Wyoming this season, attempting to live life as normal as possible. However, Ellie is tasked with travelling to Seattle where a resistance movement is emerging. Get ready for season 3!
The Last of Us is available on HBO Max.
Television: A Thousand Blows
A Thousand Blows (2025) is a 6-episode series created by Steven Knight of Peaky Blinders. Based on the true events of East London in the late 19th century, this historical drama takes us through the underground boxing world run by the all female criminal group, Forty Elephants. Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty join forces again since the contentious Adolescence for another round of outstanding performances. Season 2 is set to air next year!
A Thousand Blows is available on Disney+.
Album: Balloon Balloon Balloon – Sharp Pins
Sharp Pins’ third album is Balloon Balloon Balloon (2025). This is the brainchild of Kai Slater from Chicago trio, Lifeguard. Lifeguard’s typical Sonic Youth-derived sound is nowhere to be found on this individual endeavour, instead we get a complete 180 of 60s pop, likened to The Beatles. Shimmering guitars make up the melodic tracks on this 43-minute, 21-song album. This is a fun record for those a fan of a jangle-y guitar!
Balloon Balloon Balloon is available on Bandcamp.
