Over the past twelve months China has been gradually increasing it’s military presence near Taiwan, running several large scale military exercises close to it’s border.

Following a recent U.S. congressional delegation to the island, the scale of China’s exercises have increased, with the possibility of conflict in the region becoming more likely.

Comments from former Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Defence Minister Peter Dutton recognising the potential for conflict, and Australia’s involvement in defending Taiwan, raise the question of ‘what would war in Taiwan mean for Australia?’
