World’s First Optical Fiber Laser

An international group of Macquarie University scientists have been conducting research into optical fiber technology. This research has led to the discovery of the world’s first optical fiber laser that is capable of detecting gases in a variety of situations with the utmost sensitivity. Joining us on the line to discuss this was Dr Darren Hudson, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Macquarie University.
