European cinema offers expression from a wide variety of cultures and this tradition continues with the return of the Europa Film Festival for its fifth year, presenting 43 films from 22 countries across Australia and New Zealand from 19 February to 19 March 2026.
Marking a major expansion, the festival will screen not only in Melbourne and Sydney but for the first time in Brisbane, Hobart, and Auckland too! It opens with the acclaimed musical drama ‘The Testament of Ann Lee’, starring Golden Globe-nominee Amanda Seyfried, and features a special retrospective dedicated to the modernist mastery of Italian director Michelangelo Antonioni. We sat down with Artistic Director Spiro Economopoulos to discuss the 2026 program and the festival’s mission to bring bold European filmmaking to new audiences.
In Sydney, the festival runs at the Ritz in Randwick. Find ticket information and more here!
