Wine Chat: Victoria, Rutherglen

Pictured: The Castle at All Saints, Rutherglen
For the next handful of weeks here at wine chat we’ll be doing a unit focused on Victorian winemaking and taking a deep dive into a different region every week.
This week we’ll be taking a look at the historic region of Rutherglen, located in the north of Victoria, on the banks of the Murray river. We’re joined as always by Cal Lee to discuss the history of the region, and what makes the area special.
EN: I definitely butchered the pronouncing of the cuvee name for this wine.

Cal says: A great example of the modern table wines coming out of Rutherglen. A love letter to the red wines of Portugal, soft and fruit forward, vibrant acidity with a generous supporting of oak. This wine is designed to drink now and will pair brilliantly with barbequed meats, roast lamb or with richer charcuterie and cheeses.
