The summer holidays really are a perfect movie-going time – so this week Wayne catches up with the latest cinema releases and shares his top four films to see with Cameron Furlong.
Sentimental Value
An intimate and moving exploration of family, memories, and the reconciliatory power of art, when sisters Nora and Agnes reunite with their estranged father, Gustav, a once-renowned film director.
In English and Norwegian with English subtitles. At selected cinemas now – watch the trailer here.
Hamnet
A beautiful, often emotional story about the family behind William Shakespeare, and the son Hamnet whose name lives on in ‘Hamlet’. It’s based on the book by Maggie O’Farrell, and lives up to the story – so YES read the book as well if you want.

Nouvelle Vague
Shot in black and white, this film recreates the making of the groundbreaking movie ‘Breathless’ in late-1950s Paris. If you love the history of film and stories of how fresh thinking breaks through, this is a wonderful tribute to the revolutionary spirit of the French New Wave.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple
This post-apocalyptic horror-drama film is the fourth movie in the epic story started in “28 Days Later”. Dr. Kelson finds himself in a shocking new relationship – with consequences that could change the world as they know it – and Spike’s encounter with Jimmy Crystal becomes a nightmare he can’t escape. In the world of The Bone Temple, the infected are no longer the greatest threat to survival – the inhumanity of the survivors can be stranger and more terrifying.
