The Bush Legend is a certified online star, an Aboriginal man sharing short, sharp videos introducing different native animals to the wide world. People in the comments are saying with his bubbly persona, he should have his own TV show.
The only problem is, the Bush Legend isn’t real, but the product of artificial intelligence.
Dr Tamika Worrell is a Senior Lecturer in Critical Indigenous Studies at Macquarie University. Tamika’s family is from Gamilaroi Country, she has been grown up by Dharug Ngurra (Country) Western Sydney since birth. Her research explores Indigenous representation across all levels of education, as well as Indigenous digital lives including artificial intelligence.
It was the honour and pleasure of 2SER Breakfast to welcome Dr Tamika Worrell to the show to discuss this dangerous and concerning new aspect of cultural appropriation.
